We are thrilled to unveil our "0.2" Patch for the Project Haven Tech Demo. There has been a substantial amount of updates and changes to the game, and we continue to iterate on our core concepts to ensure we have a clear path towards an engaging Survival Crafting game. Please keep in mind that our focus continues to be our iterating and implementing updates quickly that will have meaningful impact on the player experience. In future updates we will work towards enhancing around our core gameplay loop.
Patch Notes
General
- Updated UE Engine version being used to 5.3.2
- Procedural Foliage Spawner rebalanced
- TreeSpawner was introduced and actors were added to spawn volumes
- Updated where placeable items spawn in relation to the player
- Animal aging is fixed to gradually occur over the aging lifecycle
- Herb effects tied into herb usage
- Rough building mechanic in and tied to inventory
- Bug fixed that caused a crash when an empty inventory slot was clicked on
- Climbing removed from player controls
- Days Survived adjusted to start at 0 instead of 1
- Seasonal weather now determined randomly with respect of the current season
- Bow and Arrow interact fixed for a straighter shot and more velocity
- Night brightness decreased
- Target lock camera bug fix
- Stamina/Health drain rebalancing
- Berry spawn volumes added to the world
- Save file structure updated to save player details, structures, and storage
- Pin system revamped
- Keybind updates
Gameplay
- Balanced Poison status effect, timer, and screen blur
- Players can now pick fruit from fruiting trees when harvestable
- Soil now has a percent change of pickup from grass tuft
- Seeds now have a percent chance of pickup from eating fruits and herbs
- Players can use soil to create Farm Plot and plant seeds to grow respective trees/herbs
- Enemy now have a health bar appear when locked onto by the player
- Player attack animations now orient to the locked target
- Aim reticule added to viewport when a player is aiming in any state
- Campfires now spawn with a 2min timer to rekindle with tree logs before they are removed
- Bow now needs crafted arrows to fire
- Ash spawns from burned-out campfires
- Herb and fruiting trees now spawn/despawn based on the season and weather
- Wither now spawns from un-harvested dead animals
- Dead animals can now be harvested for resources, will % chance of rare/special resources
- Players can now craft storage containers from the crafting menu
- Players can now craft gear from the crafting menu
User Interface
- Added/Fixed Sound Effects for UI Elements.
- Updated Tooltip logic for inventory items when mousing over an item.
- Added the ability to drop a certain # of items from an inventory item.
- Journal prototype added to ‘Pause’ Menu
- Pickup blueprints adjusted to ‘highlight’ when player is near
- UI added to show player damage
- The stamina bar was replaced with a Stamina ring beside the player
- The Witherbinding bar was replaced with witherbinding ring beside the player
- Wither Debuff period now has UI icon in Status Effects bar
- New placeholder UI images for status effects
- UI added to drop a specific amount of an inventory item
- Added hover tooltip logic for Seeds
- UI feed added to HUD for player interaction feedback
- Time of Day UI added to HUD
- Seasons now have dates reflected in UI
- Traps are craftable in Craft UI and placeable from inventory
- Building items (walls, floors, etc.) removed from the craft menu
- The pause menu now opens and closes with ‘P' or 'Esc’ key
- Enemy damage is now indicated above the head when targeted or not
- Normal damage indicator color switched from ‘white’ to ‘red’
- Save/Load UI added
- Companion/Pin system UI combined
- Compass and minimap UI revamped
New Models/VFX/SFX
- The basic campfire placeholder model swapped for a working model
- Fruiting Trees placeholders in
- Player Character art is now implemented, and the Unreal Mannequin has been replaced
- Added/Fixed Sound Effects for UI Elements
- Fire glow VFX added to new working campfire model
- Tame VFX is added to animals when they become companions
- Apostra and Scarbloom placeholder models swapped for working models
- Dropping items SFX added
- Main Menu music updated
- Ambient nature SFX added
- Campfire SFX added
- Witherzone VFX revamped
- Animal wither VFX added
- mining/chopping/harvesting VFX added
- Character skeletons and rigging updated
- Animal behavior SFX added for wolf, bear, and snake
